FAQs

What will happen at my initial consultation?
Prior to your first appointment you will receive an email confirming your appointment date, time and location. With this email is a form to complete titled "Initial Consultation". Please click this link and complete the form on either your phone, tablet or computer. I need the information in this form before I can see you.
Your initial consultation will include a detailed review of your medical history and assessment of lower limb health prior to any treatment. The initial consultation includes all routine skin and nail care requirements e.g corns. callus, nail reduction.
-
How long will my appointment last?
Appointment times vary from 15 minutes to one hour.
Your first appointment will take approximately 30 minutes this time enables me to get to know you, your medical history and requirements/expectations prior to any treatment.
Routine care treatments can take up to 30 minutes.
Diabetic foot health checks take approximately 15 minutes.
MSK assessments last approximately 30 minutes.
-
Do I need to do anything to prepare for my appointment?
If you wear nail polish it would be advisable to remove this prior to the appointment so that I can assess the condition of your nails and perform any necessary treatment or maintenance on them.
Please ensure to follow my Covid-19 safety procedures.
-
I'm not sure which appointment would suit my needs?
If you have not been seen by Plymouth Podiatry before and have skin or nail care requirements then you need to attend an initial consultation appointment. All routine care will be dealt with at this appointment as well as getting to know you and your medical history.
If you feel your pain is deeper than skin level this indicates more of a connective tissue or joint problem which would require the musculosketal assessment. We can always discuss this over the phone prior to booking your appointment if you like.
-
What if I have an emergency/urgent medical need?
If you require urgent medical attention you can telephone your GP. Alternatively, if your GP surgery is closed you can call 111. This is a 24 hour NHS service providing urgent health advice when your GP surgery is closed.
I am however contactable at most times and if unable to answer the phone/email immediately will endeavour to get back to you quickly.
